About 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander
A 168-horsepower, 2.4-liter four-cylinder 16-valve engine replaces the V6 engine in ES models and will connect to a Continuously Variable Transmission. The V-6 powertrain will continue to be offered in LS and XLS trims.
For 2008, Mitsubishi is the first automotive manufacturer to have exclusive entry and exit carpool/high occupancy vehicle routing added to its XLS HDD Navigation Package. This feature allows drivers to tailor the route based on carpool lanes, making the freeway driving experience a more enjoyable and efficient one.
The Mitsubishi Outlander comes in three trim levels: the base ES; mid-level LS; and top-of-the-line XLS. Each model is available in either 2WD or 4WD. Powertrains include the new 2.4-liter four-cylinder motor and CVT transmission in ES models and a 3.0-liter SOHC 24-valve V6 with a six-speed automatic transmission in LS and XLS models.
The Outlander has clean, sharp lines, featuring a "diamond cut" front end and boldly sculpted fender flares that evoke the athleticism of a sport sedan.
The Outlander's smooth forms and sculpted door panels are set off by silver-accent trim, and the deeply contoured front bucket seats and motorcycle-style instrument panel gauges suggest "sports car" more than "sport-utility."
